Mediation provides the means to resolve a legal dispute on the day of the mediation. All of the parties to the mediation should be given an opportunity to be heard and each position should be considered in the quest to achieve a fair and mutually beneficial solution to the legal dispute.

To be successful, a mediator needs to be able to work with people. I enjoy people – even the difficult ones – and, most importantly, I enjoy finding a solution to their problem at hand. A fair and successful mediation gives a certain outcome of which the participants in the mediation have exclusive control. There will be final certainty as to the sums paid and terms agreed in closing the controversy. This is in contrast to the uncertain results that often come about after the time and expense that a trial brings down the road.

Having experienced litigating personal injury cases on both “sides of the fence,” representing both plaintiffs and defendants, I have respect, understanding and appreciation for the individual perspectives of each opposing party advocate. I further strongly believe that in order to best and most successfully mediate a legal controversy, the mediator should have the knowledge and experience in the subject being mediated. For this reason, I feel very comfortable focusing my mediation practice on personal injury matters, and insurance and property damage related issues. In sum, the intent of a mediator is to be ultimately successful in obtaining a solution to the dispute at hand. To do so, the mediator must be prepared, knowledgeable, and personable but persistent, in bringing about a fair and acceptable resolution of the legal dispute at hand in which all parties agree. That truly is my ultimate goal and reward.
